No Distance

Bringing The Gap.

by Laura A. Ferrabino

Upon the Cartesian graph's domain,
all planes align, a harmonious terrain.
Between two points, though their Distance,
they're straight lines, even secants!
To grasp the Distance's sway,
think of things not far away:
Units measure it with grace,
on a line, they find their place.
In this path, we measure length,
then the mind adds to its strength.
It calls it a "Side," linked in so,
and relates it to “Squares”, you know!
So Distance, indeed, does hold
its own priority, we're told.
When we glance at the Distance,
that tiny dot on the plane's expanse.
Indeed, in mathematics we concede,
Distance is a tricky creed.
Yet in the soul and in the heart's sweet chore,
it's a journey, lasting hours and more.
It traces the course from us and others,
a fragile barrier, one discovers.
Perhaps it's merely an illusion,
an agile truth in its diffusion.
In the end, one notion we select:
nothing truly stands so far, we reflect.
If what you hold as true Affection,
resides within a heart's steadfast direction.
And if you find yourself in a circumstance,
to diminish Time or Distance's advance,
Maybe there's no answer under the Sun,
among concepts, there lies the Moon.
